Staff favourite effect - James` pick! βοΈ
Steampunk Plane π
My favourite effects at Burnt Toast are the planes. They are always imposing, no matter the stage; they get a brilliant reaction from audiences and the performers that ride them.
But if I had to choose one, it would be our βSteampunk Planeβ. The level of detail at both an engineering and scenic level is incredible.
I love seeing how directors find new and amusing ways to incorporate βmayday modeβ. Where, at a flick of a switch, the plane brakes down mid flight.
The challenge of building these complex designs, all while ensuring industry leading safety, is why I love working at Burnt Toast SFX!

Benjy`s favourite effect: The Genie`s π§ββοΈ
The Genie flying carpet is number one for me.
Despite its relatively small size, this effect always produces some of the largest audience reactions. Proving that bigger isnβt always better.
I love how the carpet can be a completely different effect across each performer. This gives a fresh display of magic every time it comes on stage.
Building this one was also very enjoyable. We spent a long time in the research and development stage to achieve the buoyant and graceful flight of the magic effect.
Iβve never had more people ask βhow the hell did you do that?β

Pete`s Favourite Effect: Jetpack π
There`s something special about making an audience question what`s possible.
The Jetpack is one of my favourite effects because it`s pure fun from start to finish. Watching a performer soar across the stage, twist upside down, and move in ways you`d never expect always gets an incredible reaction. Even I love giving it a go in house!
This one took a while to build as it was so intricate but it was worth every late night and early morning!
I love the challenge behind it β creating an effect that feels effortless, whilst ensuring every movement is smooth, safe and spectacular. It`s one of those effects that reminds me why we do what we do... creating moments that leave audiences talking long after the curtain comes down.
