Prop special effects refer to any specially designed props that create dynamic visual effects on stage. These can include breakaway furniture, moving or animatronic props, pyrotechnic props, or interactive elements like blowing bubbles or glowing objects.
Our prop effects are expertly crafted, each with its own unique features. From automated beds that transform into grand pianos to animatronic giants that interact with performers and audiences, and convertible cars that drive onto the stage for a stunning visual impact — our manufacturing expertise allows us to bring any creative vision to life.
We value each and every clients input when designing and building effects. While full customisation can be challenging since our effects are designed for multiple hires, most prop effects are tailored to align with a production’s creative vision. We consider factors like size, durability, and performance requirements. Additionally, many of our props are built to be modular or adaptable, making them ideal for touring productions.
Absolutely! Our process begins with an initial email discussion, followed by a detailed phone call and in-person meetings. During this stage, we gather your ideas and provide visual options through our R&D process to ensure we fully understand your vision. Together, we’ll finalise all the details, from the type and size of the effect to how it integrates into your production. We’ll also explore budget options to determine what’s achievable.
Next, the Burnt Toast team will scale, size, and design the effect using CAD and vector drawings, followed by a comprehensive 360° visual simulation, offering a complete view of the effect from every angle.
Once all elements are approved and a contract is in place, our expert creators will begin building the effect, keeping you informed with regular progress updates.
We will also provide detailed RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) for your review before scheduling a pre-production meeting. This allows both teams to align on essential elements, including lighting, health and safety considerations, radio control operations, and the delivery and installation process.
If needed, we arrange pre-production training for performers to ensure everything runs smoothly. Throughout the hire period, our team remains available to answer any questions or provide support.
